Spanish businessman Juan López Díaz founded the brand named after him in the 1870s. Its full name is La Flor de Juan López. Until the 1950s, it was among the best-selling Habanos. Although less known around the world today, Juan López has always had a loyal following among Habanos aficionados, particularly the Selección No.1 and Selección No.2 formats. A few years ago, 5THAvenue offered the Juan López Distinguidos, a now legendary format, as an "Edición Regional." Both formats offer a medium to strong flavor, based on a rich tobacco blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco growing zone. All formats are totalmente a mano, tripa larga - completely handmade longfillers.

Kurios: Früher fertigte diese viel zu wenig bekannte Traditionsmarke ausschließlich Corona-Formate, heute sind nur noch die beiden dickeren Vítolas erhalten geblieben, die in den 1990er-Jahren eingeführt wurden. Diese klassische Corona Gorda ist ein Prachtstück von einer Habano, unbedingt zu empfehlen! Rauchdauer: ca. 60 – 80 Minuten.
Aromen
Diesem tollen Blend gelingt das Kunststück, die intensiven Harz- und Gewürztöne einer Partagás mit der Cremigkeit und dem Kaffee-/Kakaoduft einer Montecristo in perfekter Harmonie zu vereinen. Natürlich schmeckt sie nicht genau wie eine dieser beiden Marken, doch vereint sie tatsächlich zwei Geschmackswelten, die vordergründig inkompatibel scheinen, auf das angenehmste! Doch die Aromatik der „S 1“ erschöpft sich keineswegs darin; vielmehr hat sie auch feine, florale Süße zu bieten, dazu Sandelholznoten und eine spannende Entwicklung hin zu mehr erdiger Würze und Power. Eher kräftig als mittel, vielfältig und köstlich!
Worth knowing
Roughly at the same time as the “S 1” this Habano was launched in the classic Robusto format. Since the hiring of most regulars, the brand has been known more from various great regional and limited editions; experienced aficionados appreciate the “S 2” however immensely.
Flavours
This magnificent Habano, which should actually be much better known, is massive, original and full-bodied. It tastes of resin, peat, liquorice and tart exotic spices, but also develops more subtle notes of black tea, nappa leather and coniferous wood, in the later course of the smoke also distinctive roasted tones like espresso beans and a hint of malty cocoa taste. A very subtle caramel sweetness hovers over everything. A fully aromatic, noble and very strong cigar, whose subtleties require some attention. Great!
